Flammable Paint Spill Requires HazMat Cleanup Specialists
HazChem Environmental recently responded to a spill involving a flammable paint that spilled during shipping. The HazMat cleanup crew observed the inside of the contaminated trailer and found the affected pallet with the product containers and an impacted area of 2’x12’.

See our process below for a Loading Dock HazMat Spill:
The crew staged a 55-gallon OTS drum and put a poly liner inside of it, to hold the collected waste. They started to unwrap and unstack the pallet to gain access to the damaged containers. They placed three damaged product containers inside of the designated drum, to be disposed of as waste.
HazChem trained technicians used absorbent pads to wipe down the non-damaged product containers before they restacked them onto a new pallet and rewrapped them with shrink wrap. Then the crew deployed oil dry into the standing product waste liquid and worked it in with hard brooms, scrappers, and shoves; to lift and for absorption.
HazChem then placed a poly liner inside of a separate 55-gallon OTS drum, for collected waste and used supplies. HazChem Environmental scooped up the impacted oil dry and put it in the second waste drum.
This spill generated two waste drums; they were sealed, properly labeled, and kept on-site for disposal. Final photos were taken, and remediation was approved.
